JULY 2021 DIGESTION:

A big hello to July! The glorious weather is promised to return soon so will be excellent for getting out and about. This months self-help focus is DIGESTION. DIGESTION: Digestion can really alter our overall happiness, wellbeing and health. So how can help our health and improve and maintain a healthy digestive health? Eating a healthy, balanced diet, drinking plenty of water and living a healthy lifestyle all work towards a healthy digestive system. Stress is a key trigger for digestive upset therefore it is important to reduce stress if we are suffering with digestive issues. We can do this through exercise, relaxation, mindfulness and through mindful eating. Mindful eating: Studies have shown that mindful eating can reduce stress therefore the symptoms of IBS and digestive issues. Here are ways in which you can begin to eating mindfully; · Eat slowly. · Focus on your food by turning off your TV and putting away your phone. · Notice how your food looks on your plate and how it smells. · Select each bite of food consciously. · Pay attention to the texture, temperature and taste of your food. Used regularly, alongside a healthy lifestyle (good food, exercise water etc.), by working on specific reflex points, reflexology can promote overall balance and relaxation resulting in better digestion. Attached is a self-help hand reflexology DIGESTION sheet to help you achieve this at home. Enjoy this with a breathing exercise and remember, like any new skill, this takes time and patience to see benefits. Regular use can really help! BALANCE ME REFLEXOLOGY NEWS: I have recently started a reflexology for the MENOPAUSE course which is truly fascinating! It helps to alleviate the symptoms the menopause may bring. I am at the beginning of this journey but will be adding the new techniques in to your treatment, if appropriate, over the coming weeks. MINDFUL reflexology continues to be a popular with clients and is working well to help relax and restore balance. A specific mindful reflexology session is 1 hr 15 minutes and includes a guided meditation. Please ask me if you would like further details of this.
